With only two weeks until the 2017 Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas, the Monster Energy Pit Party is shaping up to be the biggest crossover event in history. It will be held outside of Sam Boyd Stadium in the parking lot during Monster Energy Cup qualifying practice.
Once the Pit Party opens at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, fans who recycle a Monster Energy can will be provided a free day of Monster Energy entertainment with the inaugural 2017 Duels competition and head-to-head, off-road truck racing, drift demos and a whip contest. (Pit Party tickets also can be purchased for $10.)
The Duels competition, a head-to-head truck racing event hosted by Kenny Bell and off-road racer Cameron Steele, will feature Pro Lite race trucks and the world’s most elite off-road and short course drivers competing on two identical courses and drive on each side of the course for the best time. Drivers such as Monster Energy’s Jeremy McGrath, BJ Baldwin, Rodrigo Ampudia, Johnny Greaves, CJ Greaves, Casey Currie, Brian Deegan, Hailie Deegan, RJ Anderson and Ryan Beat will compete in a speed and style match and may receive timed bonuses for excellent driving.
In a Celebrity Duels race, Monster Energy athletes such as MMA star Quinton Rampage Jackson, skateboarding star Nyjah Huston, BMX legend Scotty Cranmer and Kevin Peraza will compete in the new Can-Am X3 side-by-side machines. The course starts with a wall ride where drivers will “bicycle” their truck on two wheels for as possible. Then, the drivers will run through the Vegas-themed course featuring a set of dice and complete a 720-degree turn around the roulette wheel. Racers will cross paths on the back table top and will run the course backward, coming to the finish line where they will have to slide from a drift and parallel park between two water barriers (Ace Ventura style.)
The event also will include the Dirt Shark Biggest Whip contest featuring the world’s best whip athletes on dirt bikes, a Monster Energy DJ and rider autographs. Monster Energy’s European Drift Champion, Steve “Baggsy” Biagioni, will showcase the R35’s Chevy V8 engine doing drift demos.
