Round 9 of the 2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross an FIM World Championship was huge in Atlanta! As the second round of the 2018 Triple Crown, there would be three main events and only one overall winner. With three gate drops and the best Supercross racers in the world all going for it, the sparks were ready to fly. At the conclusion of the night, the huge crowd on hand was met with amazing racing action.

In the first 450SX race, it was Christian Craig blasting out with the holeshot with Blake Baggett in tow. Meanwhile, Eli Tomac and Marvin Musquin had suffered poor starts and were climbing through the pack. As the laps clicked off, Justin Brayton made his way past Craig and tried to pull a gap, but Jason Anderson was on his heels. Anderson actually made a pass for the lead during the final lap of the race, but Brayton charged back past and took the win.

Race number two saw Anderson grab the holeshot and would lead wire-to-wire but have to hold off a hard charging Cooper Webb. Justin Hill would crash spectacularly in this race, suffering a broken toe on his right foot.

The third and overall deciding 450SX race saw an epic battle. Blake Baggett grabbed the holeshot, but Marvin Musquin quickly made his way into the lead and began to sprint away. Meanwhile, the battle for the overall was on with Anderson climbing through the pack. Anderson’s charge would carry him to the front and he would finish well enough to clinch the overall win!

The championship at this point was really beginning to swing into Anderson’s favor. The questions lingering were, “Could Tomac and Musquin win their way back into contention?” And, “Will the championship pressure begin to effect the red plate holder Anderson?” Eight rounds remained after Atlanta and a LOT was yet to happen!
