Sometimes riders have a perfect night. They qualify on pole, win their heat race, get the holeshot, lead every lap and take the win. Other times, things don’t go according to plan. Here are five impressive comeback rides from the 2022 Monster Energy Supercross season.

1. Craig Podiums Despite Friese Collision

Christian Craig had established himself as the man to beat early on in the 250SX West championship. At Glendale, he won the first Main Event of the night in the Triple Crown format. But during the second Main Event, he was taken down in a collision with Vince Friese. However, not only was Craig able to recover from this and finish the race in 4th, he also won the third Main Event, and so his results were good enough to place him 2nd for the night overall.

2. Jett Lawrence Passes Everyone

The bad news in a Heat Race is that, if you crash, you have very little time to recover from it. Nobody told Jett Lawrence that, as he went down hard in the first turn of Heat Race 2 in Indianapolis and dropped to dead last… and then came back to win. He followed that up by winning the Main Event too.

3. Forkner’s Return

Austin Forkner was forced to miss several weeks of the 2022 season following a hard crash with Jett Lawrence in Arlington. He returned in Atlanta and finished 7th in the East-West Showdown, a solid comeback. What was even more impressive though, was that at the very next race in Foxborough he took the win in just his second race back.

4. As Fast as a Jett

The East-West Showdown in Atlanta had fans excited about the opportunity of seeing Christian Craig and Jett Lawrence going head-to-head. However it wasn’t to be, as Jett went down early on while riding in second behind his brother Hunter. Jett’s incident dropped him to 15th yet, despite being up against the best riders in both the East and West classes, he came back to finish 3rd.

5. Pile-up to Podium

Christian Craig had picked up back-to-back wins to start the 2022 250SX West season, but his chances of making it three-for-three were dashed in the first turn of the Main Event in San Diego when he was involved in a pile-up. This dropped Craig to the back, but he was able to remount and start charging through the field. When the checkered flag flew, Craig had raced all the way back up to third place.
